The Japan QCA Conference brings together researchers who apply QCA in empirical research and experts working on the latest QCA and related methodological developments. The PDW is held in person at Komatsu Hall, Research Innovation Center (Building 121), Waseda University, Tokyo. The EW is a hybrid event, combining in-person and online participation.

Abstract submission deadline
Submit a maximum 500-word abstract to the separate PDW or Expert Workshop Google Form.
Around
Decision notification
Applicants will be notified of the abstract decision. Accepted PDW applicants will be invited to submit a full paper.
Full paper deadline
Accepted PDW presenters should email their paper of no more than 8,000 words as an attachment to jqca2026@gmail.com and indicate whether they plan to attend the dinner reception. Read the paper submission instructions. A full paper is optional for the Expert Workshop.
Japan QCA Conference 2026
In-person sessions take place at Komatsu Hall, Waseda University, Tokyo. The EW also supports online participation.
Choose the right workshop
Paper Development Workshop
For researchers who are already applying QCA in an empirical study and want detailed feedback in small roundtable sessions.
Accommodation grants of up to ¥50,000 per person are under consideration for PhD students with insufficient or no travel funding, with priority given to presenters travelling from far away. The application deadline was 11 September 2026.
Expert Workshop
For experienced QCA researchers presenting or discussing methodological issues related to QCA or a related method.
The EW is hybrid, combining in-person and online participation.
QCA experts may participate without presenting a paper by indicating this in the same Expert Workshop form.

There is no conference fee. The reception starts at 18:00 on 30 October; please indicate your attendance when registering. Accessibility guidance is in preparation.
